Photo: Mr. Michael Spooner My name is Mike Spooner, I am the Headteacher of the Edron Academy (Colegio Britanico). I would like to welcome you to our website.I hope it will provide a brief insight into our school and some of the outstanding work undertaken by both our students and staff. We are a mixed non-denominational school for children between 1 and 18 years old. At the moment , we have 1024 pupils and expect the total population to reach our maximum capacity of 1100 within the next two years. The school is British and bicultural in its curriculum and focus. Most students are Mexican and we encourage pride in their national identity through assemblies, special events and the importance of the Mexican education programme which occupies about 20% of the timetable. We have agreements with the Mexican education authorities (S.E.P. and U.N.A.M.) so that our students' qualifications are fully recognised throughout Mexico and abroad. The English National Curriculum leading to the IGCSE (International general certificate for secondary education) and the I.B. (International Baccalaureate) is taught by mainly British staff and occupies about 80% of the school day.
| An introduction to British culture is fostered by the curriculum, extra-curricular activities,links with British organisations in Mexico and the school house system. Our main strengths include the level of English and Spanish, the personalised teaching methods, our close links with parents, our academic results and the quality of our teaching staff.
