ProgrammeThe school is an IB-World School. We have been offering this programme since February 1995. |
In Mexico there are now more than 20 schools that offer the IB programme, but the Edron is one of the very few which offers the Bilingual Diploma.
The diploma is displayed in the shape of a hexagon with six academic areas surrounding the core. Subjects are studied concurrently and students are exposed to the two great traditions of leaning: the humanities and the sciences. Students are required to select a combination of six subjects from these groups. Three are studied at higher level, the others at standard level. In this way students are offered both depth and breadth of curriculum. Distribution requirements ensure that the science-orientated student is challenged to learn a foreign language and that the natural linguist becomes familiar with laboratory procedures. While overall balance is maintained, flexibility in choosing higher level conditions allows the student to pursue areas of personal interest and to meet the special requirements of university entrance. Students are also required to take a course called Theory of Knowledge in which they examine how we learn across all subject areas. They must also participate in the Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) programme, which gives them an opportunity to give something back to their community.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme opens many doors to prestigious further educational institutions.
Ex-students from the Edron go on to study in universities in such countries as the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States of America, Australia, and Switzerland. Edron students have also entered many universities in Mexico, examples being UNAM, ITAM, ITESM, El Colegio de México, Universidad Anahuac del Sur, CIDE & the Universidad Iberoamericana. | |
